WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We are seeking an experienced Stagehand to join our production team. The ideal candidate is focused, adaptable, and can work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced team environment. This position will primarily work at the First Avenue in Minneapolis but must be available to work at different venues located throughout Minneapolis, Saint Paul, and the surrounding cities, including the First Avenue Mainroom, 7th St. Entry, Turf Club, Fine Line, and Palace Theatre, to support the operational and staffing needs of the company.
ABOUT THE PRODUCTION TEAM
Our highly skilled and talented production team works cooperatively to ensure the smooth execution of live performances and seamless transitions between performers. The production team's goal is to ensure all aspects of event productions run as smoothly as possible before, during, and after live performances. The production team plays a crucial role behind the scenes ensuring the stage, sets, props, lighting, sound, and other technical equipment are accurately, efficiently, and safely setup, managed, and taken down at all live performances.
POSITION SUMMARY & TRAINING STRUCTURE
The Stagehand reports directly to the Production Manager. As a part of our production team, stagehands are responsible for unloading, loading, setting up, and taking down equipment, scenery, sets, and props. Stage Hands must follow proper safety guidelines and procedures, including the safe operation of any equipment. Stage Hands will work and train alongside the Production Managers, Production Supervisors, Stage Managers, Stagehands, and other production staff. This position will primarily work at the First Avenue in Minneapolis but must be available to work at different venues located throughout Minneapolis, Saint Paul, and the surrounding cities, including the First Avenue Mainroom, 7th St. Entry, Turf Club, Fine Line, and Palace Theatre, to support the operational and staffing needs of the company. Key responsibilities and duties are outlined below.
POSITION TYPE: Part-Time
POSITION SUMMARY
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Sets up and tear down of stage equipment, risers, scenery, props, barricades, risers, and technical equipment.
- Performs load-in and load-out of band and rental equipment from vans, trucks, tour busses, and other vehicles.
- Moves road cases and miscellaneous equipment.
- Checks stage equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
- Hangs up signage, banners, and backdrops.
- Keeps venue spaces and backstage areas organized.
- Assists with changeover between band sets and backstage coordination.
- Organizes sound, light, and stage equipment
- Assists the audio and light technicians with requests.
- Follows all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
- Ensures security of building entrances, exits, and exterior premises before, during, and after shifts.
- Conducts walks around the interior and exterior of venues, restaurants, and parking lots.
- Ensures that entrances, garage doors, and sidewalks are free of debris, snow and ice to ensure vehicles can safely exit and enter.
- Clears obstructed areas inside and outside that may prohibit safe building entry or exit.
- Informs Facility Supervisor of any safety or health hazards, including broken and nonfunctioning equipment, to prevent any injuries from occurring.
- Maintain a positive attitude in a changing, fast-paced environment and works with a sense of urgency to complete tasks.
- Delivers excellent customer service to artists, bands, tour managers, and performers.
- Maintains a high level of organization and preparedness.
- Demonstrates regular attendance and punctuality.
- Assists and supports the managers and coworkers to achieve department goals.
- Willingness to work at different venues to support the operational and staffing needs of the company and the department.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Access all areas of the venues
- Regularly required to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods of time
- Move, lift, and carry products from outside receiving area to designated areas inside of venues and restaurants.
- Lift and place items onto shelves at various heights
- Climb up and down ladders as necessary
- Ability to quickly bend, lift, reach, grab, pull, push, and carry items weighing up to 45 pounds
- Ability to use touch-screen devices, point-of-sale screens, and mobile devices
QUALIFICATIONS
- The ideal candidate will have a valid high-school diploma or GED with a minimum of two years of experience as a stage hand, mover, or a relevant position within the live entertainment industry
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to read, interpret, and follow instructions
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
- Must demonstrate reliable attendance and punctuality
- Must be able to take initiative, work independently, and be self-motivated to produce quality work
- Must be highly organized and detailed-oriented
- Knowledge of theater production processes and equipment is desirable
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Stagehands must be willing and able to work flexible hours and a rotating weekly schedule for a 7-day week operation, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays, with regular attendance necessary.
- Must work a schedule that aligns to the business, operational, and customer needs
- Must be available to work nights and weekends for closing shifts
- Must be 18 years of age or older for this role
- Must be currently eligible and possess authorization to work in the United States of America
- Must not require sponsorship by our company for work visas
- Must have reliable transportation
