Principal Engineer

Objective:
The Principal Engineer will work as part of the engineering team to support the activities of the repair station and production approval holder. Their primary function will be to drive engineering development and look for growth opportunities that support both First Aviation growth and customer requirements. The diverse projects will cover PMA part creation, repair specifications for multiple ATA chapters, new MRO capability development and other engineering projects requiring FAA approval.
He or she should have a strong mechanical aptitude, an inquisitive mind, and a desire for growth. The candidate will utilize both internal and external technical resources to manage multiple projects ensuring on-time delivery, while working in accordance with the FAA guidelines and customer needs and expectations.
The ideal candidate will act as a mentor to junior engineers. They will be able to independently remove obstacles and roadblocks that may prevent their project from being successful. They can identify and lead projects that will make a positive impact on the company’s bottom line. They are innovative and resourceful. They are collaborative and a team player. A proven track record of executing projects on time and budget is key.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in engineering
· Ten years of relevant experience working with an MRO, OEM, or airline
. Note – if candidate has less than 10 years’ experience, they may be considered for a senior engineer position.
· Understanding of FAA regulations and requirements
· Experience working with various materials.
· Ability to create free body diagrams and understanding of load paths.
· Experience with 2D and 3D CAD software.
· Good technical writing skills
· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with internal and external constituents
· Ability to collaborate with others across all company disciplines and outside resources.
· Complete a background check and drug screen with results acceptable to management.
