First Bank and Trust is seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist in Abingdon, VA to join our team. The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for processing transactions related to the Bank's bills and payments. Their primary duties include, but are not limited to reviewing invoices and making timely payments to vendors and suppliers. This individual will assist in implementing a new accounts payable software system. The Accounts Payable Specialist will work closely with the accounting department on a daily basis.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in the implementation of new account payable software.
- Manage the entire accounts payable process.
- Process and verify vendor invoices promptly and accurately, ensuring compliance with accounts payable policies.
- Communicate with vendors regarding invoices.
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
- Manage the accounts payable ledger and ensure accuracy of data.
- Maintain accurate and organized financial records.
- Track corporate credit card expense report submissions and approval progress to ensure timely and accurate processing.
- Assist with various audits (internal, regulatory, sales & use, etc.) and provide documentation and support as needed.
- Manage real estate remittances and payments.
- Processing of 1099s annually.
- Account analysis monthly statements.
- DDAPAR Maintenance.
- Updating vendor, merchant and/or vendor account information when necessary.
- Record prepaid expenses and maintain records for reconciliation.
- IOLTA quarterly reconciliation & ensuring all federal and state guidelines are met.
- VA Sales Tax remittance and information gathering for TN & NC Sales Tax.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting
- Three or more years of customer service experience - preferred
MINIMUM SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Solid understanding of basic accounting principles
- Familiarity with the accounts payable process
- Ability to handle confidential information
- Working knowledge of Word and Excel
- Math and accounting skills
- Detail oriented and organized
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
