Position Summary
Primarily responsible for generating, processing, and closing SBA-guaranteed loans for prospective customers through calling efforts, marketing, and referrals. Focus is on developing strategies and tactics for soliciting and developing profitable SBA loan and account relationships. In addition to accomplishing portfolio growth and profitability objectives, the SBA Relationship Manager is responsible for credit quality, policy compliance, and risk mitigation. This individual will need to work well with other members of the First Bank's SBA team and regional lending teams and therefore must be viewed as team player inside the organization.
Key traits include business development skills, credit experience, extensive knowledge of SBA lending, as well as an ability to counsel and advise prospective customers who may lack the same knowledge of the SBA's programs.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Sources and develops new business (SBA 7a and Express loans) in accordance with annual loan growth and deposit goals. The loan growth goal of $15 million is subject to annual review.
- Develops relationships with COI's and loan brokers in order to source SBA loans.
- Works closely with relationship managers throughout the bank and attends meetings with prospects and clients, as requested.
- Structures SBA loan proposals, completes initial underwriting and prepares credit package. Works closely with the underwriting team to ensure that loan presentations are thorough and accurate.
- Presents credits for approval to appropriate levels of authority within the bank.
- Works in conjunction with the loan administrator and the loan service provider to manage the due diligence, closing, and loan sale process.
- Manages a portfolio of existing and new SBA loans.
- Ensures a high standard of credit quality through the credit approval process. Reviews pertinent financial and market data and eligibility requirements.
- Reinforces policies and procedures to comply with fundamental business and credit priorities of the Bank.
- Assumes additional responsibilities as required.
