Commercial Credit Loan Underwriter
The Commercial Credit Loan Underwriter is responsible for analyzing of credit information on current and potential borrowers, determining the advisability of granting credit for diversified types of loans, assisting Relationship Managers in writing loan requests, and assisting in the assignment of timely risk rating as well as assisting the Credit team with other pipeline management duties.
Responsibilities:
- Assists in the gathering of required customer data, performs assessments of underwriting package completeness, spreads financial statements according to bank standards and analyzes financial information including financial statements and tax returns; and works directly with Relationship Managers for additional information and clarification of data
- Compiles data from credit bureaus reports, conducts industry peer comparisons, and performs cash flow analyses and other such tasks and comparisons
- Assists in the writing of credit memo presentations within the Relationship Manager's lending authority and makes recommendations on loan structures and terms
- Assists Portfolio Managers in the timely collection of financial monitoring requirements and provides back-up support for the timely completion of renewals and annual reviews
- Develops knowledge of financial industry, economy, market conditions, rates, vendors, and competition
- May represent the Bank in various community, civic, and community reinvestment functions to further enhance the Bank’s image and develop additional business.
- Assures compliance with all Bank policies, procedures and processes, and all applicable state and federal banking laws, rules, and regulations, and adheres to Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) responsibilities that are specific to the position.
- Reinforces the application of superior customer service through his or her own example along with appropriate follow through with involved customers and employees.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (BA) in Accounting or Finance
- 2 years of banking experience, preferably in a credit or lending related roles
- CRE AND C&I experience required
- Basic understanding of business financial statements and tax returns (business and personal)
- nCino system experience preferred.
