What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Banking Team Leader position at First Bank?
The Business Banking Team Lead will report to the Director of Business Banking. The primary job function will be to oversee, expand and grow the Business Banking segment across MW (annual sales of $1-$10MM). This individual will engage with the Retail Branch network and across other business lines to strategize, plan and partner. In addition, they will also support strategic planning efforts and contribute to special projects and initiatives.
Extensive focus will be placed on relationship management, driving business development activities, new client acquisition, client retention and expansion. The Business Banking Team Lead will engage in proactive sales behaviors, execute sales activities, effectively managing pipelines, support deal closing opportunities and educate and motivate colleagues to support and contribute to business growth targets.
Responsibilities & Expectations
- Proactively manages the pipeline, sales activities, COI development and partnerships
- Develop and implement a Marketing Plan to achieve assigned financial goals
- Results-oriented by driving strategies for growing revenue by achieving assigned financial targets
- Ensure professional development is provided for succession of colleagues
- Strong knowledge of Business Banking credit, underwriting, compliance, policy and procedures
- Leadership responsibilities include recruiting, hiring, training, mentoring, retaining and coaching Business Banking Officers
- Works closely with Retail Banking Management, Loan operations and other support departments within the Bank
- Provide monthly and quarterly Sales Reports to management to measure sales performance to required sales objectives for supervised Business Banking Sales Team.
- Assist assigned Branch Managers with servicing the branch portfolio of business credits including control of delinquencies and proactive maturing loan management.
- Strong communication, sales planning, problem solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work in a team environment with the understanding of how to navigate the organization to overcome obstacles and achieve financial targets
- Strong decision making skills to effectively uncover and resolve complex client and employee issues
- Knowledge of banking regulations, lending policies, procedures and techniques.
- Ability to think independently and to understand financial and non-financial information to identify opportunities to improve the business.
- Ability to work well with others in a dynamic, team-oriented environment
- Knowledge of the industry's competitive landscape and the factors that differentiate the company and its competitors in the market.
- Ability to interpret and explain complex information to a range of audiences and build consensus among key stakeholders

Experience with credit needs up to $1MM of both scored and underwritten products required.
- 10 years of experience in banking/financial services... Preferably in Business or Commercial Banking
- 5 - 7 years of proven Management/Leadership experience building, motivating and coaching a successful team of sales leaders
- PC proficiency in Word and Excel for Windows

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
