SUMMARY:
The position of Core Banking Support Specialist is responsible for providing support for the daily operational activities of the bank as well as support for project and initiative work outside daily duties. The Banking Support Specialist I will also be a primary member of the team providing first level support for end users for the Core Banking application (FIS Horizon) which includes interacting with the vendor and following up on issues to resolution. This role may be called upon to support other more senior roles both on and outside the team.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Completes work assignments as designated. Includes assignments involving offline reporting systems (Ex: H360), automation tools (Ex: FoxTrot) and general project support roles from a Core perspective. Participates in cross-training of department personnel to maintain daily workflow.
- Possess overall depth of knowledge and understanding of bank operations. Assist in ensuring daily, monthly and quarterly operational responsibilities are competed including backup personnel if needed.
- Handles most initial tier 2 bank support calls and assigns to appropriate resource when necessary. Assist Bank staff with routine problem solving. Focus on knowledge transfer to department associates as needed and appropriate; assist in investigation of issues; advise on best course of action as required and/or escalate as required.
- Conducts core banking application testing, including supporting documentation. Assess releases for impacts on other bank departments, assist with associate participation, ensure appropriate documentation has been distributed to impacted departments, confirming testing is properly assigned, manage test and production go-live dates, manage documentation and actual test results.
- Implements all Bank Control Record changes and maintains supporting documentation.
- Assist with system reporting as needed.
- Drive certain Audit activities as assigned.
- As assigned, work with other departments in project implementation when those project also touch the core. Includes attending preliminary and ongoing meetings to offer experiential advice and assign appropriate resource(s) to insure that assigned associates test appropriately and maintain documentation.
- Assist work group leader for conversions and acquisitions. Includes working very closely with PMO; completing project tasks as assigned; monitor and update PMO documentation; communicate with assigned FIS resources; track progress; escalate as required.
- Participates in committee appointments/meetings as assigned.
- Completes annual compliance courses.
- Adheres specifically to all corporate policies and procedures. Also adheres to Federal and State regulations and laws; including, the Bank Secrecy Act and the Anti-Money Laundering Act.
- Adheres to all levels of our Service Excellence standards.
- Performs other duties as required.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge & Experience: These specifications are general guidelines based on the minimum experience normally considered essential to the satisfactory performance of this position. Individual abilities may result in some deviation from these guidelines.
- Post high school degree from an accredited institution preferred or, at a minimum, a high school diploma with proven experience in financial and technology industries.
- Any Work related experience should consist of positions or duties in a technology or banking environment and/or a combination of the two.
- Post High School education in Finance or Business desired but not required for the position.
- Knowledge of Bank operations and as well as any Bank operational policies and procedures relevant to be successful in this position preferred.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills – ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Entry level understanding of computer programming fundamentals, database management, middleware and integrations of software programs.
- Proven skills in the use of Microsoft Office technologies to include, at a minimum, Microsoft Excel, Word. Experience in Microsoft ShareFile, PowerPoint, and OneNote preferred but not required.
- Experience with FIS Horizon, or other comparable major banking core, preferred but not required.
- Intermediate skills in computer terminal and personal computer operation; word processing, spreadsheet and specialty software programs.
- Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and instruct personnel.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze a situation, be part of a team that defines a solution and subsequently executes on the solution.
- Experience working with Auditors and a basic understanding of the audit process.
Physical Demands/Work Environment: Vision, hearing, speech, dexterity, visual concentration. A valid driver’s license is required. Must have the ability to stand, walk, sit and use hands and fingers. Must have the ability to work the hours and days required to complete the essential functions of the position, as scheduled. The environment is a professional office with standard office equipment.
