What are the responsibilities and job description for the Elementary Student Services Teacher position at First Baptist Academy?
This position is for the 2025-2026 school year
REPORTS TO: Elementary Principal
POSITION OBJECTIVE: Effectively teach and support elementary students enrolled in the Student Services Program. Collaborates with school staff to develop intervention and prevention strategies for students and develops individualized service plans to facilitate student achievement.
QUALIFYING CHARACTERISTICS: The Teacher should display a commitment to Jesus Christ demonstrated in professional and personal life, a commitment to Christian education; a calling to the ministry of meeting the educational needs of children and young adults; Have excellent written and verbal communication skills; organized; team player.
EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree required; Special Education certification (State or ACSI) is preferred. Minimum of five (5) years classroom teaching experience in Christian education preferred. Experience or training in special education is preferred. A working knowledge of differentiating school curriculum to meet student needs..
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Implement systems, policies and procedures as outlined by the Administration.
- Model cooperative, respectful, responsible and spiritually-minded behavior.
- Interpret evaluation results and devise appropriate accommodation plans and supports for students.
- Develop and implement accommodation plans for students to include present levels of educational performance, identified needs, and instructional goals.
- Provide research-based specialized instruction to address the instructional needs and goals of students, as outlined in their accommodation plan.
- Assess student progress and determine the need for additional reinforcement or adjustments to instructional practices.
- Create a positive learning emphasis in individualized instruction.
- Utilize a broad variety of teaching methods to match student learning styles.
- Regularly assess student progress using research-based assessments and using data to provide differentiated instruction.
- Maintain a program of individual professional growth.
- Promote FBA and the principles of Kingdom Education.
- Participate in spiritual activities at FBA such as prayer, devotions, Bible study and chapel.
- Complete all reporting duties and other paperwork assigned.
- Prepare Lesson Plans for all instructional activities.
- Maintain proper classroom discipline.
- Schedule conferences with parents or students as needed.
- Observe the Matthew 18 principle in conflict resolution.
- Fulfill all duties as assigned by the school administration.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position.
EXEMPT STATUS: Salaried
WORK SCHEDULE: 10-month position per contract.
