First Baptist Academy, serving students infant through eighth grade, is seeking a PreK and Lower School music teacher. FBA teachers exemplify specific characteristics of professional excellence to support FBA’s vision, mission, core values, and strategic goals. This position reports to the PreK and Lower School Principal.

Required Qualifications
FBA conducts pre-employment screening for all positions which includes a criminal background check, verification of work history, academic credentials, licenses, and certifications.

Required Qualifications

- Moral and Ethical Standards – Uphold high moral and ethical standards within the classroom and greater school community.

- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school with current teacher certification
- At least two years of full-time teaching experience in the area of teaching music
- Creative Empowerment – Create classroom learning environments that foster a secure and supportive atmosphere, encouraging students to embrace challenges, redefine failure, and advocate for themselves.
- Work diligently in curriculum planning, implementing instruction, and executing effective classroom management techniques for elementary-aged students.
- Comprehensive Personalization – Provide diverse learning opportunities tailored to the unique strengths, interests, and challenges of students.
- Develop lesson plans to teach choral music and music theory skills (including rhythm, melody, pitch, tempo, harmony, appreciation, and history) to PreK 3-4th grade students.
- Collective Collaboration – Engage in collective efforts with team members to attain shared goals for the benefit of the students. Ensure that all students make academic and social progress in accordance with FBA’s mission and core values.
- Collaborate with Fine Arts Coordinator and Lower School Principal in planning, rehearsing, and directing seasonal musical programs and other school assemblies, ensuring all include a spiritual emphasis and align with FBA’s mission.
- Communicate with parents during the school year through regular correspondence, electronic gradebooks, and maintaining class pages on FBA’s portal system.
- Supportive Guidance – Assist students in recognizing their talents and guiding them in utilizing these gifts to serve others and discover God’s desired path for their lives.
- Serve as the Lower School Chapel worship leader by selecting music and leading students in worship time.
- Continuous Professional Growth – Pursue professional development opportunities to incorporate optimal teaching methodologies in our classrooms.
- Select appropriate music, books, and instructional aides to enhance learning and requisitions musical instruments and instructional supplies as necessary.
