Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Director to join our team at the Children's Learning Center of First Baptist Church of Dalton. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the Director in the administration of educational programs and strategic initiatives. This position requires strong leadership skills, effective management capabilities, and a passion for education. The Assistant Director will contribute to the development and implementation of policies that enhance the learning environment and promote academic excellence.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Adhere strictly to the policies set forth by the First Baptist Church Dalton, the Children’s Ministry, and the CLC Committee
- Maintain the required 10 training hours per year, nutrition training, and CPR/ First Aid Certification required by Bright from the Start
- Performs other tasks as assigned by the CLC Director
Center Program:
- Perform functions of the Director in their absence
- Assist the director in general management and duties of the Center
- Assist in necessary staff meetings with the partnership of the Director
- Complete new teacher orientation and training, keeping records of staff training hours
- Coordinate staffing for all rooms to have the appropriate ratio
- Help coordinate substitutes as needed and make sure lesson plans are provided
- Assist teachers with special projects, field trips, and order needed supplies
- Help maintain an organized, clean, and safe environment throughout the center
- Coordinate programs such as center-wide family events
- Conduct tours of the center for prospective families
- In partnership with the Director maintain correspondence with newsletters/online media (Facebook and CLC Website) to all staff and families
- Assist teachers with keeping in contact with absent children
- Assist teachers as needed when children require first aid assistance
- Administer emergency drills monthly and revise emergency procedures twice a year
- Assist in the administration of medication to children and proper forms per state requirements
- Visit all classrooms daily
- Ensure that incident reports are completed and signed off/file all reports
- Prepare notebooks with information for all children and keep current
- Maintain current immunization files on all children for the local Health Department
- Maintain records of any allergies children have; inform the kitchen staff and teachers
- Other duties as assigned by the Director
Qualifications:
- Be at least 21 years of age
- Meet the minimum academic requirements and qualifying childcare experience set forth by Bright from the Start
- Have experience working with children in a group care setting
- Dressing appropriately speaking calmly, responding to challenges with patience and grace, maintaining a professional presence on social media, and upholding the center’s reputation
- Customer-service, team-oriented, and be self-driven
- Must portray a Christ-like demeanor and attitude and display a deep love for children
- Demonstrate a strong work ethic with responsible attendance and punctuality
- Act within the guidelines of the First Baptist of Dalton and the Children’s Learning Center Employee Handbooks
- Complete and pass the required comprehensive records check and drug test
- Working knowledge of computers, word processing, and ability to learn new software
- Able to work with numbers, accounting, spreadsheets, and scheduling
- Professional and positive role model for other employees and children
- Knowledge and understanding of the Quality Rated program preferred
- Knowledge and understanding of Bright from the Start Rules and Regulations preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Child Development or related field preferred
