First Baptist Greenville, SC, a progressive and inclusive faith community, is seeking a full-time Director for our Activities and Youth Ministry Center (AYMC). We are seeking an individual who is comfortable working in a church setting and could envision their role as AYMC Director as integral to a holistic approach to Christian spirituality, recognizing individuals as the sum of their physical, mental, and spiritual components.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Program Planning & Coordination: Coordinate a variety of fitness classes, events, and activities for AYMC members, church members, and the local community, ensuring offerings align with the mission and values of the church.
· Church Involvement: Actively participate in broader church events, attending at least quarterly to build connections and integrate AYMC initiatives with the larger ministry of the church.
· Team Leadership & Supervision: Hire, train, and supervise staff members, including fitness instructors and support personnel, ensuring their work aligns with AYMC goals. Provide ongoing training when needed.
· Facility Management: Oversee the scheduling and use of AYMC facilities, ensuring that spaces are maintained and utilized effectively. Collaborate with the Facilities’ team to address maintenance and equipment needs, including cleaning and repairs.
· Financial Oversight: Manage the financial aspects of the AYMC, including budgeting, reporting, and ensuring adherence to internal financial controls. Monitor revenue and expenses to ensure the center operates within budget and meets financial goals.
· Liaison with AYMC Committee: Serve as the primary staff liaison to the AYMC Committee, collaborating with members to develop strategies for using the center as a tool for ministry and outreach to both the congregation and the community.
· Staff Collaboration: Attend and actively contribute to Coordination Team and General Staff meetings to ensure alignment with church-wide goals and initiatives.
· External Rentals & Inquiries: Serve as the primary point of contact for external organizations seeking to rent AYMC spaces, including high schools, sports teams, support groups, and other community organizations. Handle inquiries, schedule events, and ensure smooth communication between renters and AYMC staff regarding setup, expectations, and facility needs.
Qualifications & Skills:
· Experience in fitness, youth ministry, or a related field, with a demonstrated ability to manage programs and people.
· Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with both staff and volunteers.
· Experience with budget management and financial reporting.
· Ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse groups within and outside the church.
· Comfortable using technology and management software for scheduling, communication, membership enrollment and financial tracking.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40,000.00 - $44,000.00 per year
