What are the responsibilities and job description for the Consumer Loan Processor position at First Basin Credit Union?
In search of a reliable and upbeat Loan Processor to perform appraisals of consumer loans. You will undertake an intermediary role between existing/potential members and First Basin Credit Union. The goal is to help qualified applicants obtain loans in a timely manner and protect our organization’s credibility. Loan processor duties and responsibilities will include: providing guidance to members with basic loan inquiries and informing them of any promotional products available, assisting branch staff personnel in providing basic loan information for disclosure to members, processing and making loan disbursements, and securing all credit union liens through title work or UCC-1.
Responsibilities
- Receive, process & prepare member loan applications for review by underwriting. Ensure application data is complete and meets credit union standards including: type and value of collateral, borrower assets, liabilities, and length of employment; recommends that loans not meeting standards be denied. Follows up with underwriting to determine loan status.
- Review active loan files each day to determine if any documents are missing, or what can be done to assist in expediting the process. Follow-up on outstanding documentation or loans that have not closed, by e-mailing or calling members, to ensure loans are booked in a timely manner.
- Obtain and verify all necessary documents required to properly record lien on all collateral, i.e. title work.
- Process approved loans, setup date and time to close the loan and make disbursements. Disburse funds according to member requests or loan requirements by: deposit, check, wire, or general ledger.
- Maintain contact with dealerships to obtain the value and specifications on automobiles; informs underwriter of discrepancies in collateral or applications.
- Communicate with members to request or provide information. Identify and recommend products and services (including: GAP, warranty, life & disability insurance) that meet the members needs and that fall within credit union lending guidelines.
- Contacts members to inform of approval or denial. If denied, prepare and mail adverse action notice to applicant(s).
Skills
- One year to three years of similar or related experience
- High school education or GED required
- Must have good communication skills
- Comprehension of direct/indirect lending procedures
- In-depth understanding of relevant rules and regulations
- Balance between customer satisfaction orientation and a results driven approach
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.47 - $19.34 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
