Job Description:
Summary: Installs, repairs and maintains equipment, production machines, physical structures, and components of industrial machinery by performing the essential duties and responsibilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities : The below list reflects management's assignment of essential functions. Management reserves the right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities at any time.
- Observes and listens to operating machines or equipment to diagnose machine malfunction and determine need for adjustment or repair.
- Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on metal stock surfaces.
- Dismantle machines or equipment to examine parts for defect or to remove defective part(s).
- Replaces defective part with new part or repairs or reproduces part from various kinds of metal stock.
- Assembles and test operates machine to verify correction of malfunction.
- Maintains and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
- Installs power supply wiring and conduit for newly stalled machines and equipment such as robots, conveyors, and programmable controllers.
- Connects power supply wires to machines and equipment, and connects cables and wires between machines and equipment.
- Diagnoses malfunction of, repairs, and installs apparatuses such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures and replaces damages or broken wires and cables.
- Tests malfunctioning machinery and discusses malfunction with other maintenance workers, production, and/or Engineering.
- Replaces faulty electrical components of machine such as relays, switches, and motors, and positions sensing devices.
- Diagnoses and repairs or replaces faulty electronic components.
- Program, install, or repair automated machinery, such as robots, to operate automated machinery, to test for malfunctions, and to verify repairs.
- Inspects and measures parts to detect wear, misalignment, or other problems.
- Removes and replaces worn or defective parts of drive mechanism or hydraulic system.
- Locates damaged air and hydraulic pipes on machine, and measures, cuts, threads, and installs new pipe.
- Starts machines and equipment to test operation following repair.
- Set up and operate machine tools such as a lathe, drill press, or grinder, to make or repair parts.
- Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
- Repairs and maintains the physical structure of the facility.
- Complete preventative maintenance (PM) assignments on machinery and facility as assigned.
- Communicate with supervisor, other maintenance, and production personnel to ensure proper work is being completed and in a timely manner.
- Communicate with and assist Manufacturing Engineers to modify sketches or computer generated designs of machine components such as hydraulic system and drive mechanism.
- Initiates, with supervisor permission, the purchase order for parts and machinery.
