Job Description:
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Responsible for coordinating documentation involved in the shipment of products and materials by truck
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepares sales orders for shipment based on customer requirements and requested ship dates for shipping functions
- Coordinates check-in and out for truck drivers picking up shipments and provides proper documentation, ensuring appropriated signatures are obtained
- Communicates with carriers on shipment pickup and routing
- Coordinates with internal and external customers to determine special shipping requirements
- Provides and coordinates preparation of various other documents and reports regarding product shipments and items received
- Coordinates with satellite warehouse ship point on inbound/outbound shipments, routing, communications and scheduling when applicable
- Actively participates in Hopkins Safety Programs, such as Safety and PIE help desks, Behavior based safety audits, safe work cards and reports all near misses and first aid events
- Promotes and maintains 5S principles throughout the facility

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Some experience in logistics, traffic or trucking industry preferred
- Previous forklift experience preferred
COMPETENCIES (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities)
- Strong reading and mathematical skills preferred
- Excellent communication (written/verbal) interpersonal and organizational skills required
- Excellent telephone and customer service skills required
- Ability to use web-based learning tools per customer requirements required
- Ability to focus and determine priorities while maintaining high level of accuracy and detail in all work.
- Computer literacy, Microsoft Office products required

Work Environment: Work conditions are consistent with a general warehouse environment. Frequent exposure to the warehouse environment and periodic exposure to the manufacturing environment will require the understanding and use of PPE requirements applicable to each environment. The ability to tolerate extreme temperatures while in the production and warehouse environment is a requirement. Standing, walking, stooping and bending are frequent activities that must be physically tolerated while maintaining good workflow and applied ergonomics. The employee must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
