First Christian Church – Baxter Springs, Kansas
Position: Children’s Pastor - full time (35 hrs per week)
Vision: To lead families closer to Jesus by engaging the hearts and minds of children.
Primary Function: Oversees the general kid’s ministry of the church (birth through 8th grade), providing assistance, support, service, encouragement and commitment to the church’s most basic welfare.
Qualification: Must demonstrate a commitment to the effective ministry and passion for discipleship. Show strong organizational and leadership skills. Have the ability to build and lead volunteer teams. Prefer a relevant ministry degree or/and experience working with children in a church atmosphere.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Oversees all programs and ministry for children ages birth through 8 grade, including Sunday mornings, Wednesday nights, summer programming, camps, social events, etc.
- Choose, prepare, or organize the choice of curriculum for each program and each age level.
- Create environments, activities and programming for each age group that will facilitate learning and encourage spiritual growth.
- Recruit, train, schedule and lead teams of volunteers.
- Maintain a strategy for reaching and assimilating new children (and their families).
- Execute a spiritual development program that leads kids towards baptism.
- Plan, coordinate and/or oversee special events, including VBS (vacation bible school), Christmas programs, Easter egg hunt, church camp, family events, etc.
- Attend ministry/staff meetings and board meetings.
- Maintain regular correspondence with families and children through materials at church (Bible recommendations, parenting resources) and through the mail (birthday cards, we missed you cards, what we are learning, etc.)
- Help with getting the church ready for Sundays by keeping ministry related areas of the church clean.
- Assist as needed with other church ministries.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $35,000.00 - $40,000.00 per year
