Maintenance Specialist
Status: Part Time up to 29 hours per week, non-exempt
Reports to: Facilities Director
Summary
The Maintenance Specialist is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and functional environment within the building and other maintenance duties as assigned. This position requires attention to detail, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to work independently while adhering to safety and cleanliness standards.
Primary Responsibilities
- Cleaning and Sanitizing: Ensuring cleanliness and hygiene of all areas within the building, including offices, restrooms, common areas, and any other designated spaces.
- Trash Removal: Collecting and disposing of trash and recyclables from designated areas throughout the building.
- Floor Care: Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and polishing floors as needed to maintain cleanliness and appearance.
- Restroom Maintenance: Cleaning and disinfecting restroom fixtures, replenishing supplies such as soap and toilet paper, and ensuring restrooms are clean and stocked.
- Light Maintenance Tasks: Performing minor maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, fixing minor plumbing issues, and addressing other general repair needs.
Specific Responsibilities
- Cleaning and Sanitizing: Ensuring cleanliness and hygiene of all areas within the building, including offices, restrooms, common areas, and any other designated spaces.

- Light Maintenance Tasks: Performing minor maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, fixing minor plumbing issues, and addressing other general repair needs.
- Monitoring Supplies: Monitoring and replenishing cleaning and restroom supplies to ensure adequate stock levels.
- Security Checks: Performing regular security checks of doors, windows, and other access points to ensure they are secure.
- Setting Up for Events: Assisting in setting up rooms or spaces for meetings, conferences, or other events as required.
- Emergency Response: Responding to emergency situations such as spills, floods, or other
incidents promptly and appropriately.
Specific Responsibilities may include
- Landscape Maintenance: This involves mowing lawns, trimming edges, planting flowers, shrubs, and trees, and maintaining the overall appearance of the landscape.
- Weed and Pest Control: Ensuring that the grounds are free from weeds and pests through regular inspection and appropriate treatment methods.
- Litter and Debris Removal: Keeping the grounds clean by picking up litter and debris regularly.
- Equipment Maintenance: Regularly inspecting and maintaining groundskeeping equipment such as lawn mowers, trimmers, and leaf blowers to ensure they are in good working condition.
- Other duties as assigned by the Facilities Director.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Must be able to use all lawn equipment and knowledge of proper lawn maintenance.
- Ability to complete all physical tasks as assigned and the ability to lift and carry heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

Expectations, Staff Relationship & Responsibilities
- Strong work ethic. Schedule as assigned by the Facilities Director. (NOTE: Additional hours may be requested for All Hands events, evening or weekend responsibilities.)
