What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teacher position at First Church Early Learning Cetner?
First Church Early Learning Center was established in 1956 and we are a NAEYC accredited program. FCELC is looking for a positive, responsible, and adaptable individual to join our family. As a Teacher at First Church Early Learning Center, this person would be expected to have effective classroom management, plan and implement an emergent curriculum, maintain Office of Early Childhood and NAEYC standards and communicate daily with parents.
Hours for this position may vary between 8:30 A.M. and 4:00 P.M., Monday through Friday. The necessary hours for this position would be based on the candidate's role in the classroom(s) as well as the needs of the school.
The ideal candidate would have 3-5 years previous experience as a teacher working with young children. This person would be knowledgeable about the Connecticut Preschool Assessment Framework (PAF) and would be required to use them as they help create and implement lesson plans while focusing on the individual developmental needs of the children we serve (ages 3-6).

Duties
Coordinate and implement educational curriculum by developing classroom activities based on developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards.
Lead by example; encourage teaching team success through modeling and coaching.
Plan individual and group age-appropriate activities to actively engage children and encourage social, cognitive and emotional growth.
Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions, progress reports, and parent-teacher conferences.
Ensure all center policies and state regulations are met.
Ensure a healthy classroom environment - including maintaining appropriate hygiene and cleanliness standards and safety and security of children.
Supervise teacher assistants and classroom volunteers to ensure they are following planned activities, hygiene and safety standards.
Maintain accurate records, forms and files.
Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.
Requirements
Associate degree in early childhood education or related field of study with a minimum of 30 Credits in ECE
Minimum of 2 years of professional childcare experience.
Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
High energy and the ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment.
A strong understanding of child development.
Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification. (Will provide if not already certified)
Must clear full background check and must pass health screening.
