Job Overview
Establishes and maintains accounting systems in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and practices that meet the business requirements of First Church of Christ in Wethersfield. Implicit in this objective is the awareness and willingness to partner with our Senior Pastor to continually evaluate and adapt goals.
Responsibilities:
Manage all income, expenses, disbursements, and offerings for the church.
· Perform regular Budget versus Actual analysis to determine budget shortfalls.
· Perform Month End and Year End Closing.
· Reconcile Bank and Credit Card Statements for operating accounts.
- Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience in double entry bookkeeping in an automated environment.
- Ability to perform financial analysis and risk assessment.
- Aptitude for recognizing patterns in church spending, revenue stream, ability to recommend solutions to problem areas.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality essential to position.
- Capacity to become proficient in church financial systems including Shelby Financial Software and Amplify Software.
- Oversee filing of Tax Documents
- Auditing background is helpful.
- Problem Solving abilities.
- Qualifications/Educational Experience:
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other financial suite programs beneficial.
· Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Accounting.
· Minimum of 5 years’ experience.
· Strong Organizational Skills.
· Strong faith life and practice.
