Underwrites the more complex indirect loans while maintaining compliance with bank policies and procedures. Obtains, reviews, and analyzes applications and credit investigations; verifies credit and financial information. Has lending authority up to a limit of $250,000, and approves or rejects credit applications within individual lending authority. Makes recommendations on loans that exceed authorized credit limit. Communicates approvals, declines, counter-offers, and other pertinent information to dealers and clients. Generates new business through existing dealer base and solicitation of additional dealerships in defined market area. Performs other duties necessary to support the goals and objectives of the department and the overall business unit.
Essential Job Responsibilities____________________________________
1. Underwrites the more complex indirect loans while maintaining compliance with the bank’s policies and procedures.
2. Obtains, reviews, and analyzes applications and credit investigations.
3. Verifies credit and financial information.
4. Approves or rejects credit applications within individual lending authority of $250,000, and communicates the decision to the customer contact personnel.
5. Makes recommendations, to the Assistant Indirect Underwriting Manager or Indirect Underwriting Manager on loans that exceed authorized limits.
6. Serves as the first escalation point for loans exceeding the Indirect Underwriters’ authority
7. Communicates approvals, declines, counter-offers and/or pertinent information to the dealers and clients. Resolves disputes/issues that arise between the Lender and the members of the dealer base pertaining to the credit decisions, policies and funding packet completion, while maintaining the relationship with the dealer.
8. Understands the documents required and effectively communicates / facilitates proper completion of documents necessary to fund a contract prior to the dealership signing.
9. Assists the Operations Staff in reviewing and obtaining necessary information and/or forms needed to fund a contract once received.
10. Assists in making decisions on problem contracts.
11. Generates new business through existing dealer base and solicitation of additional dealerships in defined market area. Makes minimal calls for relationship building.
12. Occasionally provides on-site underwriting services at dealer base member sites.
13. Maintains an awareness of competitors and their programs.
14. Provides customer service information on a timely basis for inclusion in sales performance reports. Tracks results and generates reports.
15. Provides leadership, training and guidance to the Indirect Lenders. When at the Indirect Underwriting Center, leads by example in the development and maintenance of relationships with the dealer base by demonstrating appropriate interpersonal and communications skills when conveying decisions.
16. Advises customer contact personnel of any changes in bank policy or regulations that may impact the particular type of loan services.
17. Assists the Special Assets personnel with problem loans; may recommend alternate strategies to help with payment recovery.
18. Establishes annual quantitative customer service and sales objectives goals with assigned supervisor. This activity is to be integrated with the assigned indirect loan department’s annual operating plan.
Bona Fide Occupational Qualifications_____________________________
1. Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study and a minimum of three (3) years of related experience, or four (4) years of underwriting experience, is required.
2. Exemplary communication and interpersonal relations skills are required.
3. Proficient reading, writing, and grammar skills, analytical and mathematical skills, and applicable knowledge of Microsoft Office software are required.
4. May be eligible for Telecommuting.
Salary : $250,000
