What are the responsibilities and job description for the Collections Intern position at First Community Credit Union?
First Community Credit Union (FCCU) is offering a nine-week week, full-time (40 hr/week) paid internship opportunity based in Houston, TX for an individual looking to pursue a career in Asset Recovery (Collections). This internship begins 6/09/2025 and ends 8/08/2025.
As a member of the Asset Recovery team, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience in a wide range of Collections functions while working to advance our organization’s practices. This will be done by understanding the system monitoring of delinquent accounts and the reports generated by the system, while simultaneously, gaining substantive knowledge necessary to competently apply collection policies and procedures to collection activities. As your knowledge and experience expand, the asset recovery intern will learn activities and processes associated with the assignment and recovery of repossessed vehicles and their subsequent disposition as well as an understanding of the bankruptcy process to assist in the coordination of bankruptcy-related activities.
Our Asset Recovery Intern will have the opportunity to perform due diligence on all delinquent accounts by practicing proper collection procedures as described in collection policies. Practice timely follow-up procedures to ensure the most effective collection activity, as well as, informing management of any unusual situations.
The successful candidate will assist the Asset Recovery department with member communication via inbound/outbound calls, emails, and other methods of communication as necessary. Will advise members of their responsibility to repay loan accounts according to original agreements. Will establish payment arrangements that follow collection policies, as well as, processing of payments received during member calls. Will also assist the team with the preparation of necessary documents for repossession of delinquent collateral loans, assignment of delinquent accounts to collection agencies, and preparation for legal filings.
Requirements: Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or graduate-level degree with a business designation.
