Position: Manager of Site Operations

Position Type: full-time, in-person, minimum 40 hours/week

Reports to: Director of Safety and Site Operations


General Description

The Manager of Site Operations oversees all field operations on First Companies’ managed project sites ensuring the timely and successful completion of each project. This role leads all First Companies’ site staff and is responsible for mentoring and providing ongoing feedback to each member of the team to further their career development. The Manager of Site Operations provides project support by maintaining a visible presence on each site with weekly visits throughout the project, while also assisting the site staff with issue resolution to improve site productivity and enhance operational effectiveness. The Manager of Site Operations is responsible for ensuring strict adherence to First Companies’ health and safety standards at each First Companies’ managed project as well as establish and enforce job site quality control programs.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

·        Provide direction, support and resources to all site staff through weekly site visits and ongoing mentoring

·        Assist Vice President of Construction Management in assessing current and future workload requirements, including alignment of current personnel resources with project scheduling needs and forecasting additional future personnel needs

·        Develop site quality assurance and controls to be implemented by all site staff related to health and safety, cleanliness, site efficiency, accuracy and adherence to First Companies’ high level of quality

·        Assist project team in resolving issues with trade contractors related to scheduling constraints, labor shortages and material concerns

·        Mentor all site staff to ensure compliance with First Companies’ project quality standards and assist staff with issue resolution

·        In coordination with the Director of Safety and Site Operations, review safety plans for each project site to ensure a safe work environment for all employees, trade contractors and site visitors

·        Review all project incident reports, working closely with the Director of Safety to investigate cause and implement corrective actions to ensure safety control adherence

·        In coordination with the Director of Safety and Site Operations, ensure all project sites maintain required signage including: health and safety policies, inspection and audit results, project hazard assessment, location of first aid and other necessary information

·        Model commitment to an injury-free work environment through personal demonstration of safety policies

·        Review weekly site reports and maintain thorough understanding of site field conditions, trade and subcontract labor issues, progress and conditions impacting the project, as well as incident reports, etc.

·        Maintain weekly site reports cards for all project sites, storing the reports in Procore and submitting to the Director of Safey and Site Operations and Vice President of Construction Management.

·        Review and approve site logistics plans to ensure site staff maintain a clean and organized job site

·        Assist in the implementation of project punch-lists and ensure site staff manage the lists in adherence to First Companies’ quality standards and complete in a timely manner

·        Review and support site staff with First Companies’ Standard Operating Procedures and ensure training, utilization, and execution of processes are maintained

·        Proactively identify potential safety and/or construction issues that might arise on project site and communicate them to the site staff, Director of Safety and Site Operations and Vice President of Construction Management, if necessary

·        In correlation with the Director of Safety and Site Operations, ensure all subcontractors have provided required OSHA certifications and proper documentation prior to commencement of work

·        Maintain positive working relationships with trade partners

·        Assist the Director of Safey and Site Operations with any other tasks or responsibilities, as needed


Required Skills

●      Maintain, promote and integrate First Companies’ values throughout all internal and external relationships.

●      Be a team player who demonstrates a positive attitude, implements solution-based thinking and relates well with other employees.

●      Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook) and familiarity with Procore, Microsoft Project, or similar construction software is desired.

●      Excellent oral and written communication skills

●      Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

●      Ability to multi-task, prioritizing in-coming work and meeting deadlines

●      Ability to manage conflict and problem-solve issues


Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field or a minimum of 10-15 years commercial construction experience

Physical Requirements:

Occasional periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer

Ability to traverse and inspect all areas of jobsite in all types of weather including walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling or stretching

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle

May require travel

Exposure to characteristic construction site dangers
