Position: Director of Safety and Site Operations
Position Type: full-time, in-person, minimum 40 hours/week
Reports to: Vice President of Construction Management
General Description
The Director of Safety and Site Operations is responsible for managing site operations and safety on all First Companies’ managed project sites, ensuring successful completion of each project. This role provides project support by maintaining a visible presence on each site with weekly visits throughout the project duration assessing the overall competency of site staff and improving field operations. The Director of Safety and Site Operations is responsible for ensuring strict adherence of First Companies’ health and safety standards at each First Companies’ managed project and throughout the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Provide direction, support and resources to all site staff through weekly site visits
· Develop site quality assurance and controls to be implemented by all site staff related to health and safety, cleanliness and site efficiency
· Maintain OSHA certification as required by First Companies
· Mentor all site staff to ensure compliance with First Companies’ project quality standards and assist staff in issue resolution
· Review and approve safety logistics plans for each project site to ensure a safe work environment for all employees, contractors and site visitors
· Review all project incident reports, investigate cause and implement corrective actions to ensure safety control adherence
· Ensure all project sites maintain required signage including: health and safety policies, inspection and audit results, project hazard assessment, location of first aid and other necessary information
· Model commitment to an injury-free work environment through personal demonstration of safety policies
· Review weekly site safety audits and maintain thorough understanding of site field conditions, trade contract labor issues, progress and conditions impacting the project, as well as accident reports, etc.
· Assist in the implementation of project punch-lists and ensure site staff manage the lists in adherence to First Companies’ quality standards and complete in a timely manner
· Proactively identify potential safety and/or construction issues that might arise on project sites and communicate them to the site staff and Vice President of Construction Management, if necessary
· Establish and enforce job site quality control programs
· Ensure all subcontractors have provided required OSHA certifications and proper documentations prior to commencement of work
· Assist the Vice President of Construction Management with any other tasks or responsibilities, as needed
Required Skills

Physical Requirements:
· Occasional periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
· Ability to traverse and inspect all areas of jobsite in all types of weather including walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling or stretching
· Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
· Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle
· May require travel
· Exposure to characteristic construction site dangers
Education and Experience
● Degree in Health and Safety, Safety Engineering, Environmental Health, or related field
● Minimum of three to five years of occupational health and safety experience in a construction environment
