Job Description : Position Summary
Uses holistic approach in provision of medical social services to YKDRH patients and their families to assist in solving or ameliorating physical, social, emotional, and / or environmental problems which retard or prevent patients from attaining or retaining optimum health. Social services are provided to people of all ages, from intra-uterine through elderly.
Position Qualifications :
- MSW (Master of Social Work) from an accredited school of Social Work
- One (1) year experience in hospital or health-care setting.
- State of Alaska license at Masters level (LMSW) required or eligibility.
- Valid Alaska State drivers license is required.
- Basic knowledge of computer use.
- Prefer experience working in cross-cultural setting with bilingual language skills in English & Yup'ik.
- Ability to read, comprehend & write at the college level & effectively present information in one-on-one & group situations to patients / clients, agencies, communities, & other employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply / divide in all units of measure, with whole numbers, common fractions, & decimals; compute rate
- ratio, percent; draw / interpret bar graphs.
- Should be able to perform supervisory tasks when supervisor is away, work independently and in collaboration with other social worker.

ATTENTION :
Agency nurses will need to be prepared to take a math test on medication calculations for adults and pediatrics upon arrival and before working the floor.
ATTENTION :
a.Right of return transportation. YKHC will provide return transportation (at the cost to the organization) upon termination of an employment agreement unless the termination is a result of :
iii. fighting; or
iv. unexcused absence from duties for more than three consecutive scheduled work days
v. voluntary removal from the agency and / or traveler
