Summary: The Loan Operations Specialist position encompasses compliance with internal bank and regulatory policies and procedures. The position is responsible for both pre and post close review and monitoring of loan files and related lending items. This includes review of loan documents, review of loan bookings, review requests for proper loan documentation, review and input data for HMDA and provide input to loan operations of loan documents released for closing. Serve as a liaison between loan assistants and lenders in order to maximize the productivity and effectiveness for loan closings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs basic to complex pre and/or post-closing reviews following the Bank’s guidelines and procedures
- Review files for scanning accuracy and identify potential compliance issues maintaining records and files are in accordance with bank policies, procedures and standards.
- Review all collateral is perfected correctly and scanned.
- Reviews completion of paid loan files is timely and in accordance with regulations.
- Review Loan Documentation prior to closing and loan bookings to the core system.
- Assist loan assistants and officers for complete documentation packages with required compliance items.
- Review data for HMDA related applications and input data in the LAR.
- Comply with BSA and Compliance standards for the Bank as defined in the BSA and Compliance policies.
- Provide professional customer service by greeting and directing customers and visitors.
- Communicate and effectively work in harmony with all staff.
- Maintains a thorough understanding of a variety of operational procedures and regulatory compliance by reading periodicals, attending classes, developing and understanding of various subjects such as: certificates of deposit, legal ownership of accounts, IRS rules and regulations and loan policy.

Other Qualifications: Customer focused individual with knowledge of bank products and processes. Knowledge of loan products is necessary. Knowledge of loan documentation platforms/systems. Ability to function effectively and efficiently as a team member. Able to handle and resolve most problems and exceptions in an independent manner. Demonstrated follow through skills.
Education and/or Experience: Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; and 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills: Ability to use a personal computer. Knowledge of software products in Microsoft Office.
Physical Demands: Ability to lift under 1/3 of the time up to 25 pounds.
