The Mortgage Originator role is FULL-TIME, HYBRID, with an expectation of remote work after suitable training period and acceptable level of competency has been reached.
The position will be focused primarily on Carteret and Craven Counties, from Morehead City to New Bern.
Headquartered in Wake County, our footprint extends from Cary to Eastern North Carolina, and candidates are expected to be located within one hour of a First Flight branch.
COMPENSATION STRUCTURE:
The compensation of this position is base commission. Total earning potential is dependent upon performance in the position.
SUMMARY:
This position is primarily responsible for the sales, origination and processing of mortgage and real estate secured loan products.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Develop a pipeline of mortgage and real estate secured loans through external contacts and referrals
- Originate loans to First Flight's policies and guidelines
- Assist new and existing members in the selection of loan products and securing loan approval
- Review files for compliance and quality
- Prepare and distributes all Federal and State disclosures for product selected
- Respond to all member inquiries to ensure exceptional member service
- Maintain strong business relationships with internal employees

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- A minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in mortgage loan origination, demonstrating a consistent track record of exceeding origination targets and building a substantial portfolio.
- A well-established and verifiable network of referral partners, including real estate professionals, financial advisors, and past clients, resulting in a robust, portable book of business.
- While a Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field is preferred, extensive and demonstrable experience, coupled with a proven ability to leverage an existing network for immediate results, will be prioritized.
- A deep and current understanding of the mortgage lending industry, including diverse loan products, market trends, and regulatory compliance.
- Exceptional relationship management, negotiation, and communication skills, with a proven ability to cultivate and sustain long-term, high-value client relationships.
- The ability to show that the existing network will provide immediate and tangible results for the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain a strong referral network.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as contracts, business documents, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have advanced to expert knowledge of Word Processing and Spreadsheet Software, Internet Software, and E-Mail Software, as well as specific .
