Position Summary
Responsible for assisting the Controller and CFO with the daily operation of the Finance Department as it relates to all accounting and financial control functions. The position will involve duties for both First Guaranty Bank and First Guaranty Bancshares, Inc. the parent company of First Guaranty Bank.

Position Summary
Responsible for assisting the Controller and CFO with the daily operation of the Finance Department as it relates to all accounting and financial control functions. The position will involve duties for both First Guaranty Bank and First Guaranty Bancshares, Inc. the parent company of First Guaranty Bank.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Responsible for assisting the CFO and Controller with the daily operation of the Finance Department.
- The position will require supervision of junior Accounting Staff in their daily accounting functions.
- The position will assist the Controller with all accounting reconciliations, entries, various back up duties and the monthly financial closing process.
- The position will help the Controller and CFO with the preparation and review of all internal and external financial statements. External financial statements will include regulatory reports such as bank call reports, holding company call reports and SEC filings for the holding company. The Assistant Controller will assist the External Reporting function with review of regulatory filings for the bank.
- The position will assist in ensuring all required accounting documentation is collected, reviewed, approved, and passes all future reviews by internal and external auditors.
- Adheres to the BSA Policy and all other Bank Policies.
- Other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by supervisor.
- 5 years or more accounting experience (banking experience or public accounting experience preferred)
- B.S. degree in Accounting
- CPA license preferred
- Knowledge of preparing financial statements, including audited or reviewed statements a plus. Experience with regulatory reporting such as bank FDIC call reports or SEC financial filings a plus.
- Experience in audit a plus.
- Strong PC skills including excellent spreadsheet competence
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to multi-task as this position will require the incumbent to manage several different duties
