First Hawaiian Bank is currently seeking a Staff Accountant to join our Controller's Division Team. In this role, you will Accountant manages the bank’s expense accrual program, applying appropriate bank policy and accounting guidance to ensure expenditures are properly recorded and classified. The Staff Accountant also supports the forecasting and budgeting process by researching and analyzing expense trends to develop accurate projections. Additional responsibilities include assisting with daily Accounts Payable operations (reviewing and processing vendor invoices and payments), researching and analyzing expense variances, preparing periodic expense reports for management, certifying accrued expense and other General Ledger accounts, and assisting with the bank’s corporate card program.
The successful candidate will be hired for the level of the position that aligns with their experience.
Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (hours may vary)
Compensation:
The salary pay range for this role is: $55k - $70.5k / year; commensurate with experience.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Associate’s degree in accounting, business administration, related field, or equivalent work experience required
- 3 years of progressively responsible experience in Accounts Payable, with a focus on expense accruals and management. Experience should include the use of an automated Accounts Payable system integrated with General Ledger and other applications (fixed assets, inventory), and application of generally accepted accounting principles required
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, related field, or equivalent experience preferred
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft 365 suite of applications (Word and Excel)
- Able to type 40 wpm and use a 10-key by touch
- Demonstrates strong written, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey information, ideas, and feedback to individuals at all levels of the organization. Adapts communication style to suit diverse audiences and foster open dialogue
- Able to work in a team with minimal supervision
- Possess organizational skills; able to prioritize
- Possess high attention to detail
- Able to handle confidential matters judiciously
