What are the responsibilities and job description for the FHNF ASSISTANT PORTFOLIO MANAGER position at First Horizon?
FHN Financial is a division of First Horizon Bank, whose parent company is First Horizon National Corporation located in Memphis, TN. FHN Financial Portfolio Advisors is the leading provider of fee-based investment management services for depository institutions (i.e., banks and credit unions). In support of our investment management activities, we are seeking a proactive individual to provide support to the Senior Portfolio Managers in our Memphis office.
Primary Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
- Work closely with the Senior Portfolio Managers who manage the fixed income investment portfolios for depository clients.
- Participate in the management of all aspects of the client relationship, including assistance with trading, reporting, communications, presentations, and other analyses.
- Assist in developing and implementing investment strategies that optimize investment performance while maintaining compliance and consistency with the client’s policies and prudent risk management practices.
- Establish strong working relationships with members of the Portfolio Advisors group, as well as other departments within FHN Financial.
- Evaluate the accuracy and integrity of data for internal models and financial reports, interpret model output, and verify the reasonableness of the results.
- Possess basic depository institution experience in the following areas:
- Investment portfolio management
- Asset/liability management and interest rate risk analysis
- Liquidity management
- Capital management
- Travel is required as client visits are in important responsibility of the Portfolio Managers.
Desired Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in a business-related discipline such as accounting, finance, or economics. Candidates with a degree in a non-business major or equivalent experience who have a strong skill set suited for this position will also be considered and are encouraged to apply. An advanced post-graduate degree, CPA, or Chartered Financial Analyst designation is preferred.
- Position requires being based in our Memphis office.
- 5 years of experience; 3 years in the financial industry preferred.
- Have obtained or willing to obtain the Series 7, 63, and 52 licenses.
- Basic understanding of bond structures and credit risk issues.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Bloomberg.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work both independently and on a small team in a fast-paced environment.
