Job Summary
As a Childcare Teacher Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting in the care, supervision, and development of children, typically ranging from infants to preschool-aged children. You will help maintain a safe and positive environment and assist in implementing educational activities.
Responsibilities
- Child Supervision: Monitor children during playtime, meals, nap time, and other activities to ensure safety and well-being.
- Support Educational Activities: Assist in implementing age-appropriate learning activities such as arts and crafts, games, reading, and songs.
- Personal Care: Help children with daily personal care routines such as feeding, diapering, dressing, and toileting.
- Maintain a Safe Environment: Ensure that the environment is clean, safe, and conducive to learning and development. This includes sanitizing toys, equipment, and surfaces.
- Encourage Positive Behavior: Foster good behavior through positive reinforcement, guiding children in resolving conflicts and promoting social skills.
- Communication with Parents: Report on children's progress and any concerns to parents or guardians in a respectful and professional manner.
- Assist with Meal Preparation: Help with serving meals and encourage healthy eating habits.
- Support Classroom Management: Work with other staff to ensure the smooth operation of the classroom, assisting with lesson delivery and providing individual support to children.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience: Previous experience in a childcare or early childhood education setting is preferred but not required.
- Education: A high school diploma or equivalent. Certification in early childhood education or childcare-related courses is a plus.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal communication skills to interact with children, parents, and coworkers effectively.
- Patience and Compassion: Ability to remain calm and understanding in challenging situations.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stay on your feet for long periods and assist children physically as needed.
- Team Player: Works well with others.
- Participate: Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
