Position Summary:
The mission of the Software Engineering Manager is to lead the development and delivery of scalable, high-quality software solutions that drive First Legal’s technology initiatives. This role ensures the efficiency, security, and reliability of our applications by fostering a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and collaboration.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Oversee architecture and development of critical applications, including First Connect, ensuring scalability, security, and maintainability.
• Enforce coding standards, design patterns, and best practices to maintain a high standard of code quality and efficiency.
• Optimize system performance by leveraging Microsoft SQL Server (T-SQL), AWS Lambda, API Gateway, S3, and CloudFront.
• Architect and develop cloud-based, serverless applications utilizing TypeScript, JavaScript, and Node.js within an AWS environment.
• Collaborate with product managers, IT leadership, and stakeholders to define technical requirements and development roadmaps.
Job Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in software engineering or related industry.
• Technical Leadership Experience – Minimum 3 years of experience leading software engineering teams, including offshore developers.
• Strong Proficiency in TypeScript, JavaScript, and Microsoft SQL Server (T-SQL) – Deep hands-on experience is essential for managing the First Connect platform.
• Cloud & Serverless Architecture Expertise – Proven ability to design and maintain applications using AWS Lambda, API Gateway, S3, CloudFront, and Docker.
• Previous experience in legal technology or SaaS-based enterprise applications.
• Familiarity with authentication protocols such as OpenID Connect (OIDC).
• Experience with Node.js and Express in a cloud-based environment.
