What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nursery Attendant position at First Lutheran Church of Longview?
Duties:
- Responsible for providing age-appropriate care which includes feeding, changing diapers, maintaining a safe environment, putting children down for naps, holding/sitting with and interacting with children through lessons, games, stories, play and prayer.
- Prepare and lead/assist teaching of a short biblical lesson each week.
- Remain attentive to all children under your care and maintain accountability.
- Properly sign-in and sign-out children in accordance with church policies.
- Be polite, friendly, and courteous to all children, parents, and volunteers.
- Be ready to accept children at least 15 minutes before any given event is set to start.
- Straighten the room and clean any toys/beds before leaving.
- Report to the DYFM any issues which are hindering the carrying out of the duties or responsibilities.
- Communicate in advance, by phone to the DYFM: 1) any planned absences with an advance two-week notice, or 2) any unplanned absences at least two hours prior to the shift.
- Do additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Experience in caring for and teaching young children
- At least 18 years of age
- Satisfactory completion of background screening and Child Abuse Prevention Training
- Current on Tuberculin and other immunizations
- Possess a current CPR and First Aide Certificate
Conditions of employment:
- Working hours: Sunday Mornings from 8:00 – 12:00pm
- Pay day: 15th and 30th of the month with normal deductions for income tax and social security
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $11.00 - $15.00 per hour
