POSITION SUMMARY:
The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse is responsible for providing patients with physical, mental, and emotional care. This position is also responsible for maintaining the patient’s medical condition and evaluating medical care plans.
POSITION SUMMARY EXPANDED:
Under the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act (“The Unity Bill”), this position is considered a “Safety-sensitive position. “Safety-sensitive” is defined to include “any job that includes tasks or duties that could affect the safety and health of the employee performing the task or others.” Employees working in “safety-sensitive” roles are subject to this exception and subject to disciplinary action in the event of a positive test for marijuana or its metabolites.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Provide comprehensive primary care to patients across the lifespan, including infants, children, adolescents, adults, and older adults.
- Conduct physical examinations and assess patients' medical history.
- Diagnose and treat acute and chronic illnesses.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as laboratory work and imaging studies.
- Prescribe medications and other treatments.
- Perform procedures such as wound care, suturing, and injections.
- Provide health coaching and education to patients and their families.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Utilize evidence-based practice guidelines to provide high-quality care.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Program and certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. The employee shall meet the requirements of the Oklahoma Board of Medical Examiners and be licensed to practice medicine without restrictions within the State of Oklahoma.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Required:
- Current licensure APRN to practice in the State of Oklahoma by the State Boards with appropriate provider supervision.
- Current DEA certification
- Current BLS certification
- Current ACLS certification
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations and preventative measures (HIPAA confidentiality, infection spread, etc.),
- Exemplary customer service experience, including client relationships and job knowledge,
- Excellent oral and written communication skills,
- Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively; ability to think critically,
- Knowledge of quality control,
- Ability to exercise manual dexterity, control precision, and arm-hand steadiness accurately,
- Ability to be empathetic with patients; ability to maintain confidentiality.
