Overview
The AV Tech will play a key role in ensuring high-quality sound and visual production for worship services, rehearsals, and special events. Responsibilities include running live sound, managing audio equipment, troubleshooting technical issues, and assisting with AV needs for both in-person and livestream audiences.
This part-time role guarantees 11 hours per week, with the possibility of additional hours. The position requires working weekends, evenings, and holidays, with pay ranging from $50–$75 per hour based on skills, education, and experience.
Job Responsibilities:
- Run live sound for Sunday services (usually 7:30 am - 2:30 pm), Wednesday night service (usually 6-8 pm), and Tuesday rehearsals (usually 6-10 pm)
- Help to set up, test, and troubleshoot audio equipment before each service.
- Mix sound for the worship team, pastor, and any other speakers or performers.
- Ensure clear and balanced audio for in-person and livestream audiences.
- Operate and monitor church projection or visual media as needed.
- Manage microphone setup, including wireless mics, instrument DI boxes, and headset/lapel mics.
- Record sermons and worship services for archival or online distribution.
- Adjust and maintain stage monitors for musicians and speakers.
Technical & Maintenance Needs:
- Perform routine checks and minor repairs on sound equipment (mixers, cables, speakers, etc.).
- Work with the church leadership to upgrade or improve AV systems when necessary.
- Ensure proper storage and security of AV equipment.
- Provide technical support for special events (e.g., weddings, funerals, conferences).
- Train and assist volunteers who may help with AV tasks.
Qualifications:
- Experience with live sound mixing in a church or similar setting.
- Familiarity with digital and analog mixing consoles
- Understanding of microphone placement, gain structure, and EQ settings.
- Ability to troubleshoot audio issues quickly under pressure.
- Familiarity with presentation software (e.g., ProPresenter, PowerPoint).
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Availability for all scheduled services and flexibility for additional events.
- Formal education in AV Technology preferred
