What are the responsibilities and job description for the AVP of Originations position at First New York Federal Credit Union?
The AVP of Loan Origination oversees of the loan origination team, which includes the Consumer and Real Estate Loan Experts, Mortgage Loan Originators and Conventional Mortgage Coordinator. This individual monitors and reports on consumer, consumer real estate and conventional mortgage loan originations. Works with loan originators to ensure proficient product knowledge and the ability to determine the best options for the members. Ensures adequate systems, staffing and processes to satisfy member loan requests in an efficient and timely manner.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Manages the loan origination team to ensure that members are served by knowledgeable individuals who align loan products to meet member needs.
- Provides reporting on loan applications received, closed, denied, and in process to the VP/Lending.
- Demonstrates a strong ability to identify, analyze and solve problems affecting loan originations in a timely manner.
- Collaborates within the Lending Department to ensure effective solutions for members.
- Motivates the loan origination team to maximize opportunities to benefit the member and enhance quality and depth of member relationships.
- Represents the Credit Union at local events and networks with industry colleagues to promote the credit union.
- Manages third party vendor relationships for conventional mortgage and solar loan origination.
- Adheres to all local, state, and federal laws/regulatory requirements as related to functional areas.
- Works with the loan origination team to effectively present ancillary lending products to members such as debt protection, auto warranty coverage and GAP insurance.
- Prepares monthly compensation incentives for the loan origination team members.
- Maintain a proficient knowledge of all credit union products and services, industry trends and benchmarks, and products and services offered by competing financial institutions.
- Reviews the pending loan application queue; follows up on approved but un-funded loans in a timely manner.
- Maintains thorough knowledge of the credit union’s lending policies and procedures and products and services.
- Ensures that the loan origination team is available and responsive during all business hours.
- Maintain an NMLS designation.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related discipline (must have High School Diploma or GED equivalent).
- Minimum of six years of similar or related experience in conventional mortgage, consumer & consumer real estate lending.
- Familiar with lending concepts and principles.
- Displays a positive attitude with a strong commitment to provide excellent member service.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Fluent in MS Excel & Word.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:15am – 5:00pm
Work Location: Fully On-Site
