Utilize good judgment and underwriting skills to quickly evaluate loan applications for risk and approve loan requests, which are structured to perform and meet member needs.
Duties & Responsibilities
For all loan types:
- Exercises sound judgment and discretion to approve or deny loans as specified in the Board approved loan policies based on compliance with applicable laws and regulations and credit criteria; exercises sound judgment and discretion to establish conditions for loan disbursement, issue disbursement instructions to loan processors.
- Construct and approve loan offers in accordance with delegated approval authority and loan policy.
- Utilizes policy and procedure to build performing loans.
- Document adverse actions as needed and prepare systems to produce denial letters.
- Conduct credit analysis on each loan application including cash flow analysis, debt ratio calculation, credit scoring and collateral valuation.
- Provide and ensure that all regulatory disclosures are sent in a timely and compliant manner.
- Adhere to code of ethics.
- Approves loans with any stipulations. Clarifies any stipulation discrepancies with department processors as needed.
- Develops cross-sell and up-sell opportunities to maximize member relationship.
- Consistently meets established productivity performance standards.
- Adheres to all local, state, and federal laws/regulatory requirements as related to functional areas.
- Maintain a proficient knowledge of all credit union products and services, as well as industry trends and benchmarks, and products and services offered by the competition.
- Have and maintain the NMLS designation.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned.
- Possess two to four years of previous lending experience in credit union/banking environment.
- Credit skill, interpersonal skills and ability to communicate clearly while handling multiple priorities.
- Demonstrated commitment to making performing loans.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced environment.
- Adept at utilizing most current technology and software.
- Displays a tolerance for risk as defined in Board approved policies.
- Possesses critical thinking skills and applies learned lending principles according to the unique needs of each member and their risk profile.
- Displays a positive attitude. Strong commitment to provide excellent member service with a “whatever it takes” attitude.
