Job Summary
The Medical Assistant – Front and Back Office at First Person Care Clinic (FPCC) plays a vital role in ensuring a seamless patient experience by performing both clinical and administrative duties. This dual-role position requires an experienced, compassionate, and efficient professional who is committed to providing high-quality patient care to the diverse Las Vegas community. The Medical Assistant serves as the first point of contact for patients, handling front desk responsibilities while also assisting with clinical tasks to support healthcare providers. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Greeting and Assisting Visitors: Welcome and assist all visitors and clients of the clinic, providing friendly and thorough customer service.
- Patient Intake: Manage the intake of patient documents and enter information into the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system accurately and efficiently.
- Phone Management: Answer, log, and transfer calls, take detailed messages, and provide them to the appropriate parties promptly.
- Scheduling and Appointment Management: Schedule and confirm patient appointments, coordinate follow-ups, and manage appointment cancellations and rescheduling.
- Insurance Verification: Verify patient health insurance coverage and ensure accurate information is recorded in the EHR.
- Patient Requests: Process patient requests, including handling cash transactions, balancing at the end of the day, and addressing inquiries.
- Privacy Compliance: Ensure patient health information is handled in accordance with HIPAA law regulations, maintaining strict confidentiality.
- Clinic Operations Support: Assist with daily cleaning duties, organize the front office, and support other departments as needed.
- Computer Operations: Utilize electronic medical record systems, Microsoft Office programs, and online resources to perform job duties.
- Sliding Scale: Qualifying uninsured or underinsured patients for discount program designed to help with their office visits
- Patient Requests: Process patient requests, including handling cash and credit card transactions, completing end of day report, sending out patient medication requests, and auditing patient intakes.
- Computer Operations: Utilize electronic medical records/EHR, Microsoft 365, Insurance portals, File Explorer, Faxing out Pre-Employments and day to day printing.
- Phone Management: Answering incoming phone calls and establishing appointments, checking in telehealth appointments, sending messages to appropriate parties and logging patient phone calls.
- FPCC Programs: Promoting and educating about our programs offered by FPCC such as Title X, Vision, Dental, Food Pantry ETC.
- Perform basic clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, recording patient information, and preparing examination rooms.
- Assist with patient intake and documentation under the supervision of senior staff.
- Ensure that all clinical areas are clean and stocked with necessary supplies.
- Provide support during routine medical procedures.
- Perform data entry of patient information into the EMR (Electronic Medical Record) system.

Qualifications:
Educations and Experience:
- High school Diploma or equivalent required.
- At least 1 year of related experience preferred.
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) required.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
- Work Authorization in the United States required.
- Previous experience working in a clinical or community health setting preferred but not required.
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong clinical skills and ability to work effectively in a primary care environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills, and organization skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and work well under pressure.
- High level of professionalism and dependability.
Physical Demands:
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and moving during patient care.
- Frequent use of a computer and other office equipment.
Work Environment:
- Primarily a clinical setting with exposure to infectious diseases.
- Some travel is required for monthly staff meetings, trainings, and between clinic locations as needed.
- Ability to move site location if needed based on company requirements.
