Description
The Compactor Repair Technician- Electrician will safely perform the repair, rebuilding, operation, installation, and maintenance on company compactors, containers, and other equipment as needed while maintaining a clean and safe work environment in compliance with FPC company and OSHA standards. The Welder’s responsibilities include welding metal components together to fabricate or repair boxes, trucks and other equipment. Ability to use torch for cutting and brazing, plasma cutter and stick welder. Operate roll off truck to move boxes around during repairs. Knowledge of using an Airless Spray Gun to paint containers.
Qualifications/Skills
- High School Diploma or GED
- Certified Welder and/or Electrician preferred
- Prior experience in the repair of compactors and other equipment
- Valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL) Preferred
- Positive Driving record
- Must be able to meet relevant criteria for safety sensitive functions according to Company standards Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively with others
- Demonstrate ability to follow detailed instructions, work independently and maintain accurate records
- Ability to operate any vehicle or equipment necessary to perform job
- Possess physical ability to perform all aspects of job
- Knowledge of basic electrical apparatus, particularly in working on and around 3 phase high voltage
- Continuous concentrated mental and visual attention required
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities
- Safely perform the repair, rebuilding, operation, installation, and maintenance on Company compactors, containers and other equipment as needed
- Comply with all Company and applicable rules and regulations regarding compactor/equipment safety
- Coordinate all compactor rebuilds, repairs, and track all costs by for any parts or labor used
- Refurbish compactor to like new condition
- Install/ Replace compactor including connecting the compactor to a dedicated circuit with the correct voltage
- Perform maintenance on compactor’ electrical system including the checking of wires, inspecting connections, and testing switches and sensors properly.
- Electrical troubleshooting and repair at customer locations.
- Perform minor welding when needed
- Coordinate the P.M. program to ensure that our image, equipment and customer service is upheld; including pressure setting and cycle times to make sure that we are minimizing loads from our customers
- Stock inventory of standard parts, according to designated stocking level
- Conform in all respects with applicable federal, state/provincial and local laws, regulations, ordinances and other orders and to all company policies, procedures and directives from supervisors
- Possess, provide and maintain tools necessary to perform tasks related to maintenance
- Maintain a working knowledge of and keep up with the latest technology through the use of technical manuals and attendance of technical training seminars and testing
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested by management
Work environment and expectations
- Frequently exposed to loud noise, humidity, hot and cold weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, vibration, toxic and caustic chemicals, fumes and airborne particles.
- Occasionally work in high precarious places
- Work environment is usually loud.

- Personal protective equipment includes, but not limited to gloves, hard hats, boots, safety goggles/glasses and safety vest.

Physical Requirements
- Possess physical ability to perform all aspects of job.

- There may be prolonged periods of standing.
- Continuous concentrated mental and visual attention required.
- Visual Requirements: include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
