Job Overview:
As an ES&H Professional, you will be responsible for integrating safety and health practices into the planning, design, and execution of complex projects. Your role will focus on minimizing potential safety risks, performing risk assessments, providing insights during bidding processes, and leading communication efforts across teams. You will also monitor performance trends and offer recommendations to improve safety procedures and work processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the execution of safety components in the Environmental, Safety, and Health (ESH) program, covering both technical and administrative elements.
- Assist in the development and implementation of Safety and Health Management Plans, along with related procedures and training programs.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Construction, Procurement, Subcontracting, Commissioning, and other departments to ensure safety and health considerations are integrated into project planning and delivery.
- Interpret safety and health regulations and offer comprehensive guidance in the creation of plans, risk assessments, and overall program execution.
- Research moderately complex safety-related issues and regulatory requirements, preparing detailed reports and documentation.
- Provide expertise in safety studies, risk assessments, and program audits, ensuring compliance and effectiveness.
- Participate in emergency response efforts and conduct incident investigations to identify root causes and resolve issues.
- Foster communication with stakeholders and address any safety-related concerns.
- Attend meetings with clients, team members, subcontractors, and stakeholders to discuss safety protocols and improvements.
- Conduct inspections and monitoring to identify potential hazards and evaluate safety controls, corrective actions, and compliance with regulations, project requirements, and company policies.
Education & Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) in a related field such as occupational safety, health, engineering, or industrial hygiene.
- 5-8 years of relevant experience, or 9-12 years of hands-on experience in a similar role.
Key Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Expertise in a safety specialty (e.g., Personal Protective Equipment, lockout/tagout, fall protection, excavation safety, People-Based Safety) or engineering disciplines (e.g., civil, mechanical, process safety).
- Strong understanding of safety management principles, monitoring programs, and methodologies.
- In-depth knowledge of applicable safety and health laws, regulations, and permitting processes from relevant agencies.
- Familiarity with engineering, construction, and subcontractor work processes.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with proficiency in computer applications.
- Bachelor of Science degree in a scientific field (e.g., safety, industrial engineering, public health) or in process/mechanical engineering, along with practical experience in safety-related roles.
- Fluency in both Spanish and English is required.
