What are the responsibilities and job description for the Upper School Science Teacher position at First Preparatory Christian Academy?
First Presbyterian Christian Academy is an independent, PK-12, co-educational day school in Hinesville, Georgia. FPCA serving approximately 300 students. The school is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the position of upper school science teacher.
Upper school science teachers are responsible for instructing students in grades 6-12. Teachers will creates lesson plans, instruct students on subjects/courses such as earth science, life science, biology, human anatomy, chemistry, and physics, and create a well-rounded, learning environment for students. Specific courses will be determined upon hiring.
Responsibilities:
- Prompt and regular attendance
- Create lesson plans based on Georgia State Standards and modify accordingly throughout the year
- Provides and uses appropriate teaching strategies
- Create instructional resources for use in the classroom
- Create a positive educational climate for students to learn
- Meet course and school-wide student performance goals
- Participate in ongoing professional learning
- Maintain current grades for all students
- Effectively communicate with parents and students as appropriate
Qualifications:
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Proven experience in lesson planning and curriculum development
- Proficiency in teaching various science subjects, including biology and chemistry
- Familiarity with assessment and instructional design
- Ability to mentor and support diverse student needs
- Perform such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities as assigned by the Head of School

Salary is comparable and based on years of experience.
