Part Time Sexton Job Description
Reports to: Facility Manager
Position Summary: Working as part of a team the Sexton fulfills a vital role by maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming facility, interacting with members and visitors in a courteous manner, performing janitorial services, room set-up and break down requirements, and minor maintenance repairs of the church facilities and grounds.
Working Hours: Part time up to 20 hours per week. Flexible schedule based on church needs.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Vacuum, clean, and remove trash in classrooms, offices and common areas.
· Ensure all restrooms are clean, disinfected, and stocked with soap and paper supplies daily.
· Set up and tear down furniture for church functions.
· Wash windows and doors.
· Shampoo carpets.
· Clean kitchen, industrial stove and walk in refrigerators when scheduled.
· Use janitorial power equipment such as floor buffers and power washers.
· Assist Facility Manager with minor preventative maintenance and repairs.
· Assist with seasonal decorating.
· Open and secure doors, turn lights on, off before, and after church facility programs.
· Report safety and maintenance concerns as soon as observed so that corrective action can be implemented.
Physical Requirements: The position involves work in a wide range of conditions that can be physically demanding. The Sexton must possess physical and sensory ability to safely and successfully
· Climb steps and ladders
· Lift and carry objects up to 35 lbs.
· Crawl, stoop and kneel
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.40 - $16.50 per hour
Expected hours: 20 per week
