Job Description
The Graphic Designer works directly with the Communications Strategist and others within the organization to develop and produce quality publications and communications – including print, signage, displays, website, social media, etc. It is a full-time position, requiring 40 hours of work each week.
Qualifications
Must be a believer of Jesus Christ and an active member of a Church of similar faith and beliefs; membership of First Presbyterian Church is preferred. A Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, Communications, Marketing, or another applicable curriculum is required. Three or more years of relevant work experience preferred. Must be proficient in Adobe Creative Suite and other design software and familiar with branding and marketing concepts. Photography and social media management experience is preferred. Must possess a working knowledge of publication design, printing, printing cost analysis, and web maintenance. Organizational skills are essential. Excellent writing and verbal communication skills, as well as strong editing skills, are essential. Must be able to work in a team environment and provide quality, timely, and helpful service to a diverse service group. Positive demeanor. Strategic thinker. Self-starter. Innovative.
Responsibilities
- Strategize. Provide creative direction and graphic design services to help each ministry connect with people in the following areas: website, social media, bulk email and newsletters, digital and printed materials, digital boards, brochures, posters, and other media resources as needed.
- Support. Assist support staff in developing quality publications in their respective areas of ministry.
- Content Development. Work with the Communications Strategist and others to draft and propose marketing and promotional strategies for various projects. Assist in external community advertising efforts such as billboards, media, social, and broadcast media.
- Brand Management. Uphold the quality of the historic First Presbyterian Church branding. Update and maintain brand standards. Work with the Communications Strategist on branding projects and proposals.
- Prepare. Assist the Communications Strategist and AV Specialist with content planning for projects such as Stewardship, Rally Day, and various events.
- Research. Find quality design resources that would be beneficial to encourage growth and intentionality in church-wide and external communications. Stay current with marketing and communications trends, and applicable software.
- Organize. Set up and maintain a workable process for work intake and output. Ensure accurate and timely completion of tasks.
