What are the responsibilities and job description for the Product Development Lab Technician position at First Quality?
We are currently seeing a Product Development Lab Technician for our First Quality Baby Products location in Macon, GA. Under the direction of the Product Development Manager, this role will assist in the testing and development of new and proprietary baby product designs. This position will perform product and material lab testing, assist with consumer use testing and plant trials, and generate product prototypes when necessary.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Participate as a member of the Product Development team; execute projects in timely, diligent, safe, and professional manner, and contribute to the growth of the team and department.
- Work with cross functional teams across the business to support and develop the design new products and product improvements to meet business and consumer needs.
- Responsible for understanding and performing lab tests on prototype, competitive, and upstream products and materials.
- Document work procedures and test results accurately and completely. Summarize test results, statistical analysis, conclusions, and recommendations in technical reports.
- Develop and document new lab test methods to better predict and understand product performance in use.
- Manually assemble prototype products.
- Assist in trial preparation, provide trial support to manufacturing, and test new or experimental trial products.
- Support corporate proprietary technology by documenting novel ideas.
- Provide competitive product analysis for Product Development and Marketing.
- Manage Product Development lab equipment as well as inventory of supplies and product samples.
The ideal candidate should possess:
- Bachelors or Associates degree in engineering, textiles or science preferred
- Experience: Two to five years in R&D or college lab testing preferred, but entry level candidates are encouraged to apply
- Able to speak, read and write the English language and have strong oral and written communication skills
- Basic computer skills with Microsoft Office programs
- Be highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks, have knowledge of retail absorbent products, hands on mechanical aptitude, experience using basic lab equipment, including high school lab science classes.
- Possess flexibility to adapt to rapidly changing priorities and workloads
- Be a proven team player with strong interpersonal skills
