Overview

The Deposit Operations Specialist’s primary responsibilities will include managing exception items, resolving disputes, and processing wire and ACH transactions. This role will also involve providing support to various departments and sharing expertise on our core banking system with colleagues. Additionally, the Deposit Operations Specialist will oversee and process a range of deposit-related transactions, ensuring strict adherence to regulatory requirements, and contribute to the creation and updating of departmental procedures. This specialist will possess strong organizational and analytical skills, in-depth regulatory knowledge, keen attention to detail, the ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team to drive operational efficiency and accuracy. They will also possess a deep understanding of banking regulations and the ability to work collaboratively while managing multiple priorities.
Primary duties include:
- Exception Item Handling: Review and process Exception Items, including non-posted, NSF, stopped items, and Fed adjustments, ensuring timely resolution, compliance with regulations, and minimal impact to customer accounts.
- Transaction Processing: Accurately retrieve, process, and reconcile wire and ACH transactions, ensuring adherence to internal policies, regulatory guidelines, and industry best practices.
- Core Banking System SME: Serve as the Subject Matter Expert for the core banking system, providing in-depth knowledge, troubleshooting efforts, and support across departments to ensure optimal system performance and utilization.
- Inventory Monitoring: Monitor Visa debit card plastics inventory and review the monthly plastics provider invoice.
- Deposit Review: Conduct thorough reviews of deposits made through Mobile Deposit, verifying compliance with bank policies and ensuring accurate transaction processing and exception resolution when necessary.
- Vendor Reporting: Analyze operational and activity reports from key service providers (iPay Bill Pay, Profit Stars, ESI document delivery) to monitor performance and resolve issues promptly.
- Annual Tasks & Regulatory Compliance: Assist with the preparation and processing of annual tasks, such as tax forms, IRA statements, and end-of-year notices. Stay up to date on relevant banking regulations and complete the training courses required to ensure continued compliance.
- Procedure Creation & Updates: Contribute to the creation, revision, and documentation of departmental procedures and best practices to ensure consistency, efficiency, and regulatory compliance. Assist in training colleagues on new and updated procedures.
- Departmental Support: Collaborate with and provide expert support to other departments on deposit and electronic banking-related matters. Proactively address inquiries and research requests to maintain smooth operations.
- Backup Support: Provide back-up support for other Deposit Operations personnel, stepping in as needed to maintain seamless operations.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for process improvements and recommend enhancements to optimize workflow and ensure regulatory compliance.

Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- At least two years of related experience required.
Physical Requirements:
· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
· Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
