First Responders Children’s Foundation is a national foundation that provides financial support to children who have lost a parent in the line of duty as well as families enduring significant financial hardship due to tragic circumstances. FRCF also supports, promotes, and facilitates educational activities and programs created and operated by first responder organizations whose purpose is to benefit children or the community at large. Our major focus for 2025 is expanding the work we do to support the mental health of first responders and their families nationwide.
Position Summary: The Development Experience Manager is a key member of our powerhouse fundraising team, responsible for supporting the organization's fundraising efforts through prospect research, database management, donor correspondence, and individual donor cultivation. This mid-level role requires a blend of analytical and relationship-building skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. This person will play a critical role in helping to grow and sustain the donor base while ensuring a positive and personalized experience for each donor. There is much to learn for the right entrepreneurial candidate.
Key Responsibilities:
Prospect Research:
- Conduct research on prospective individual donors, foundations, and corporate partners to identify new funding opportunities.
- Prepare detailed donor profiles, including giving history, interests, and potential for future support.
- Collaborate with senior staff to develop targeted strategies for engaging prospective donors.
Database Management:
- Maintain and update the donor database, ensuring accurate and timely records of donations, communications, and engagement.
- Generate reports and analyze donor data to identify trends, opportunities for engagement, and areas of improvement.
- Support the preparation of donor acknowledgment letters, tax receipts, and other correspondence.
Donor Correspondence & Stewardship:
- Draft personalized donor communications, including thank-you letters, impact reports, and updates on organizational initiatives.
- Ensure timely and professional communication with donors, maintaining positive relationships and encouraging continued support.
- Assist in the development and implementation of donor stewardship strategies.
Individual Donor Engagement & Small to Mid-Level Donor Asks:
- Work with the development team to identify opportunities for individual donor engagement, including regular communications and targeted asks.
- Assist in crafting donor asks, both in person and through written communication, ensuring each donor receives appropriate attention based on their giving capacity and history.
- Help track and manage donor responses, ensuring follow-up and appropriate acknowledgment of gifts.
- Manage a caseload of small to mid-level donors including individuals, corporations, and foundations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in nonprofit management, communications, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in fundraising, development, or donor relations.
- Strong proficiency in donor management databases (experience with (Bloomerang, DonorBox and DonorSearch preferred).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail and a donor-centric approach.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven ability to build and maintain positive relationships with donors, colleagues, and external partners.
- Strong research and analytical skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with prospect research tools (e.g., WealthEngine, DonorSearch).
- Knowledge of best practices in donor stewardship and relationship management.

Work Environment: We collaborate and have fun as a team! Some evenings and weekends may be required. Travel required for community events or donor meetings.
Reporting Structure: Reports directly to the Chief Philanthropy Officer and is a member of our small but mighty development team.
