Basic Job Functions:
- Primary accountability of the Process Integration Engineer is to sustain the product performance for key manufacturing metrics (Yield, Module Efficiency, Reliability and Durability, Cost), and transfer new technology from pilot line to satellite sites.
- Associate’s Degree in a technical discipline with 2 years’ experience as First Solar Manufacturing Engineer I or 3 years Engineering experience in desired areas, or 2 years Engineering experience and 6 years Technical experience in desired areas
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline with 2 years’ experience as First Solar Manufacturing Engineer I or 3 years Engineering experience in desired areas or 2 years Engineering experience and 3 years Technical experience in desired areas or
- MS Degree in a technical discipline with 2-4 years Engineering experience in desired areas or
- PhD Degree in a technical discipline with 0-3 years Engineering experience in desired areas
Required Skills/Competencies:
- Background in Semiconductor, PV or electronic process technology, characterization and device physics
- Demonstrated proficiency in Statistical Data Analysis and Design of Experiments (DOE)
- Experience in high volume ramp and/or new tech transfer is desired
- Experience leading cross functional technical teams to solve problems and implement new processes and products
- Prior experience with thin film deposition, thermal and wet processing preferred
- Understanding of manufacturing engineering systems (FMEA, SPC) and structured problem-solving methods (such as DMAIC)
- Understanding and ability to apply process characterization and robust engineering principles
- Strong track record of effective problem-solving, and root-cause analysis
- Project management experience preferred
- Experience using statistical software (JMP preferred)
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
- Participate/lead in technology start-up, transfer, and ramp activities from development site to meet yield, reliability, cost, and device performance goals
- Design statistical experiments and analyze results to characterize key process metrics and optimize process modules
- Take leadership role to establish relationships between departments and satellite sites to ensure timely communication and effective problem solving
- Provide engineering support for high volume manufacturing across multiple engineering departments in a global organization, working with international teams in cross functional environment
- Analyze data using sound statistical methodology to drive improvements and recommendations to operations of process engineering
- Understanding of and ability to interpret the results from physical and electrical failure analytical techniques and various compositional analysis measurements
- Ability to identify and implement creative solutions
- Ensure adherence to all safety/environmental procedures
- Responsible for all equipment within the stated area which includes configuration control, maintenance documents, and training
- Will lead vendor discussions as needed for improvement projects, and issue resolution
- May have a small team of technicians reporting directly to this position
- This position could have direct reports.
- If hiring to a new plant prior to plant start, associate will be required to spend extended time (60-80%) in another plant in either Ohio or Alabama for training until their assigned plant starts equipment installation.

- Estimated Salary Range ($75,100 - $107,000 Annually)
- Will sit, stand, or walk short distances for up to 12 hours per day.
- Will climb stairs on a frequent basis.
- Will lift up to 58 pounds on an occasional basis, according to work instruction.
- Will lift up to 37 pounds on a frequent basis.
- Will push or pull up to 27 pounds of force on an occasional basis.
- Will push or pull up to 10 pounds of force on a frequent basis.
- Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects repetitively on a frequent basis.
- 20/40 vision in each eye (with or without correction) and the ability to distinguish between red, yellow, and green is required.
- May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
- May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis.
- Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including, but not limited to; steel toed shoes, cut resistant gloves, jackets, aprons &/or arm guards, safety glasses, hearing protection).
