Job description
First Step recovery is currently hiring a Full-time Billing Specialist. The hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm with some flexibility. The Billing Specialist is responsible for monitoring adherence to the facilities Utilization Review plan to ensure the effective and efficient use of SUD services and monitor the appropriateness of facility admissions and extended stays in each program for insurance purposes. Produce and send client statements in a timely manner. Follow-up on all denials with the insurance companies, correct all mistakes on our part, process all no-pays and alert. Track and report all session authorizations to minimize denials for unauthorized visits. Responsible for the timely and accurate posting of all payments, both from insurance companies and clients. Track and trend billing issues from payers and, or system. Responsible for accurate entry of all patient related data, i.e. patient demographics, insurance information, financial responsibility, service authorization, etc. The processing of all financial and insurance questions from both the clients and insurance companies. Credential new employees for billing.
Required Qualifications:
· Detail Oriented
· Demonstrate effective organizational skills
· Must be able to multitask
· Must possess excellent time management skills
· Must be able to demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills
· Utilization Review/billing experience, substance use disorder knowledge, and medical terminology a plus but not necessary if candidate has a good disposition with learning new skills.
Prior knowledge of Medicaid and Private Insurance.
Billing experience preferably with substance abuse claims.

Pay: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour
