Job Overview
This Instructor works under the supervision of the Director of Operations. Performs developmental assessments on each student and develops Individual Program Plan; implements needs in Individual Program Plan into daily schedule, supervises and delegates responsibilities to classroom aids; keeps required records and reports; responsible for maintenance of classroom and materials.
Responsibilities
- Develops individual program plan
- Conducts skill assessments; determines student needs
- Instructs students in group and individual instruction
- Conduct classroom activities
- Arranges field trips
- Collects data, classroom records and reports
- Participates in team, staff, parents and other group meeting to study students’ cases and recommend a development program
- Update student files as required
- Researches educational materials to gather information for use in class presentation
- Plans schedule, lessons, and goals in order to meet student needs
- Gathers material and supplies for lesson use
- Supervises/assigns tasks to aides according to daily schedule, monitors aides performance
- Must have the ability to work in a constant state of alertness to ensure the health, welfare, and safety of developmentally disabled persons
Skills
- A degree from a recognized university in Special Education.
- Experience in higher education teaching or education administration is preferred.
- Strong ability to educate and engage students effectively across various age groups.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact positively with students, parents, and staff.
- Proven experience working with students in an educational setting, demonstrating patience and understanding of diverse learning styles.
- Strong organizational skills to manage classroom activities and maintain an orderly environment.
