Position Summary
The Production Associate (Printer) works in coordination with the Printer to ensure that jobs move smoothly through the printing process and transfer correctly to the production floor. Once on the production floor, they work with the Production Manager to plan and prioritize work on the production floor. The Production Associate (Printer) cross-trains on equipment and learns all aspects of post-print production. The associate reads job tickets to identify printing needs and the steps needed to take a print job a finished product. The custom printing and mailing industries rely on precise details so the Production Associate (Printer) must have an eye for detail; the ability to notice and correct tiny inconsistencies between pieces; and absolutely ensure consistency between a job ticket and a finished product. This position has the opportunity for increasing responsibilities and advancement toward the role of Printer Assistant, should business needs and employee performance support that.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following :
Production (estimated 65%)
- Read job tickets and consult with the Production Manager to determine the steps needed to transform large-format pages to their finished form.
- Utilize print finishing equipment such as folding, cutting, and binding machines to produce jobs according to job tickets.
- Perform final quality assurance / quality control inspections to ensure the finished product matches the job ticket before it goes to the final packaging step(s).
- Operate direct mail production equipment such as inserting machines, postage meters, and commercial inkjet printers.
- Assist in the maintenance of all equipment by :
Performing scheduled preventative maintenance.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the functions.
While some production equipment generates bursts of noise, the work environment is comparable to a normal office noise level.
The work area is indoors in a warehouse type building with smooth concrete floors. The lights, heating, and air conditioning are centrally controlled.
Production activities produce dust and small paper debris.
Compensation and Benefits
This position is full-time, non-exempt (hourly) and pay begins at $16 per hour.
All full-time employees receive paid time off (PTO). New employees accrue PTO based on hours worked, approximately 15 days per year. There are 8 paid holidays.
All full-time employees are eligible to participate in health insurance, dental insurance, and vision insurance after 90 days of employment. Some health plans allow participation in an HSA plan. Most employees are eligible to participate in the company sponsored 401(k) plan after one year of employment.
Work hours are normally 6 : 00am to 3 : 00pm, with some flexibility possible. There is one hour of unpaid break time per day.
