What are the responsibilities and job description for the Extrusion Machine Operator position at First Team Professional Resources?
OVERNIGHT Extruding Injection Machine Operators are responsible for setting-up, operating, and maintaining extrusion, blow mold and injection machines and for managing scrap to meet Safety, Quality, & production goals. Machine Operator’s will tend to the equipment and coordinate with teammates to ensure that GW meets its extrusion and plant-wide goals.
Sunday - Wednesday 10:30pm-7am
TRAIN ON DAY SHIFT For First 3 Weeks!
Duties and responsibilities
1) Sets up, operates, and maintains extrusion, blow molding, and injection machines to maximize production, quality, safety and to minimize scrap.
2) Monitors product quality and adjusts equipment to keep it within specifications.
i) Monitor resin flow from railcar – silo – warehouse – machine.
ii) Monitor special additives in blender (color, specialized LLDPE, etc.).
iii) Monitor web integrity – recover quickly & safely from trim breaks & prevent
tension loss.
3) Maintains and repairs two extruders, three blow molders, two injection molders, conveyors, chillers, ability to troubleshoot and repair blenders, & recirculation pumps.
4) Maintains and repairs, water cooling equipment, Orion Stretch Wrapper, resin conveying equipment & railcar conveying equipment.
5) Manage core and resin scrap to minimize and recycle waste
Core Scrap
1) Place bad rolls on puller, monitor puller speed so it is running at its maximum allowable rate (balance between fluff capacity & puller capacity).
2) Cut rolls that cannot be pulled off. Place cut rolls and purging’s in trailer.
6) May catch rolls of product and stage them for transfer to rewinding/splitting.
a) Catch, verify weight, properly stack, wrap and place skid in the appropriate location.
b) Monitor core ladder (core consumption), roll weight, trim breaks & color (if necessary).
c) Scrap management if assigned by supervisor.
d) Alert Shift Supervisor of necessary clerical issues and of consumables inventory (knives (blades), gloves, safety equipment & paperwork).
7) Housekeeping:
e) Keeps machines clean and clear of debris to ensure promote product quality and minimize maintenance risks.
f) Keep shop area clean and clear of debris & safety hazards throughout the shift.
g) Sweep area at the end of shift and store material in designated spaces.
h) Notify supervisors, who in turn will notify management/maintenance of potential maintenance issues
