The Opportunity : As part of the Great Lakes? expansion into the offshore wind energy industry Great Lakes is in the process of constructing the first US build state-of-the-art DP2, Subsea Rock Installation Vessel (SRIV ?Acadia?). SRIV ?Acadia? is currently under construction at Philly Shipyard, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and will be delivered 2nd half, 2025. For the SRIV ?Acadia? Great Lakes is searching for a Senior Electrical Project Engineer.
The Senior Electrical Project Engineer is part of Great Lakes? Fleet Engineering department reporting to the Electrical Systems Manager. This role will be 100% dedicated to this new build project. The candidate?s work location will be a combination of work from home, our Houston office and from our project office in Philadelphia, PA. This function will require extensive travel in the USA and occasionally international (Europe).
The position offers challenge, variety and the opportunity to be involved in the construction of a DP2 rock Installation vessel which will be equipped with the latest technology on automation, Dynamic Positioning, power electronics, VFD systems, power distribution & generation systems, battery storage & energy efficiency systems and maintenance management systems.
The successful candidate will have excellent project engineering skills with demonstrated capabilities in project management, budgeting, scheduling, reporting and coordination with shipyards. Specific knowledge of electrical systems in marine environment, system integration, regulatory requirements & approvals, industry standards and work methods are key for successful execution of new build projects. The successful candidate should for that reason be an expert in the field of electrical system preferable for DP2 offshore applications and have experience with the electrical part of ship building. For a successful execution of this new build project the candidate will interface and work closely with the Company?s New Build team, Fleet Engineering teams, Offshore Wind team and IT.
